I attended the Mahle Lecture in Progressive Christian Thought last night at Hamline. It was fantastic. Internet has been iffy at best, and likes to quit and pretend not to work.

We've been teaching song and dance and drama to the kids these days. Some of the other teachers and I wrote out words for the Waka Waka song for the kids to preform--instead of Africa, this time for India. The kids love it, and so do the teachers. It's a lot of fun. It's helped me to keep a writer's mind as I drift through things, ignoring the teachings of the Buddha and not being present in time. It's probably the only place in Daejeon that's famous, and it was really wonderful.

We had a great time wondering around Insadong, the artsy fartsy, touristy trinkety area of Seoul. There are a lot of amazing things to buy there--everything from tourist kitsch to real antiques. I was basically in heaven, but held off and didn't really buy anything substantial.

This weekend, Kristen, Tom, and Lee, and I headed out to Chungju, a town (or tiny city), northeast of Daejeon. Chungju is the proud owner of the Chungju Dam, a hydro electric extravaganza that has created one of the most beautiful lakes in the country. To pass the time, I went to a soccer game with Tom, Kristen, and Kristen's friend from Suwon. Daejeon was playing FC Seoul, and we lost terribly--a whopping 5/2. A couple weeks ago the hot water stopped working in my shower--its hot for about two or three minutes, and then cuts out. But last night I discovered that it will come back for a minute or so if I flush the toilet while it is running. Hmmmm. Interesting.

So some people have made up special tour companies that run really jam packed tours on weekends. I went out on Friday with a couple coworkers--danced off my issues with work, haha, and met some folks. It takes a while to find a niche here, but then again, in comparison to Hamline cliques, I suppose that's probably a good thing. Finding your niche too early can guarantee that you're stuck there, for better or worse.
